ALAG® is a synthetic calcium aluminum silicate aggregate obtained from a fusion process, with an alumina content of approximately 40%. High density and exceptional hardness are its main features.
There is also a strong chemical affinity between ALAG® and CIMENT FONDU®. This particular feature endows cements with special properties when they combine CIMENT FONDU® with ALAG® aggregates: first class performance is obtained in terms of mechanical resistance as well as resistance to abrasion, crushing, high temperatures, thermal shock and many chemical substances.
Their use is particularly suited to the following conditions:
- Structures which require very rapid achievement of mechanical resistance, -*Structures requiring resistance to corrosion caused by sulfates, oils, industrial discharges, aggressive water, diluted acids (pH > 3,5),
- Structures which are subject to abrasion, erosion, shocks and crushing. CIMENT FONDU® / ALAG® cement achieve high resistance to these aggressive agents within a few hours, obtaining better performance than cements produced with natural hard aggregates,
- Structures which must resist very low temperature thermal shocks caused by liquid gas for example.
- Structures which must resist high temperatures (up to 1100°C) as well as repeated thermal shocks.
The main uses for cements produced with CIMENT FONDU® and ALAG® aggregates:
- Industrial floors subject to heavy-duty use: Agro-industry, the chemical and petro-chemical industries, steelmaking and metallurgy, etc.
- Hydraulic structures: Surfaces exposed to abrasive forces, erosion or pitting such as weirs, sluice gates and storm works.
ALAG® is manufactured in a quality management system environment, certified according to ISO 9001 standards.
