Kerneos is happy to announce that the selection committee of the Technical Association of Refractories in Japan has awarded the Wakabayashi paper prize for 2016 to a Kerneos co-authored paper. The prize is awarded annual for the best paper published in the Taikabutsu Journal of refractories in Japan.
The winning paper titled
"The Dependence of Curing Temperature on the Crystallization of Stratlingite in the High Alumina Cement Hydrates : In the Case of Curing Temperatures at 50℃ and 30℃"
and published in TAIKABUTSU (Japanese Edition), Vol.67 No.10 was the product of cooperation between Kerneos and Hiroshima University and was authored by Toshio Shinmei, from the Department of Earth and Planetary science, Faculty of Science, Hiroshima University along with Makoto Iiyama, Chris Parr and Christoph Wöhrmeyer. An award ceremony was held during the general meeting held in Himeji-shi, Hyogo, Japan on 20th April, 2016 followed by a lecture of the award winning paper. The paper is part of a series of publications aiming to explain some of the underpinning mechanisms that can dictate the mechanical properties of calcium aluminate containing refractory castables. This is the second time Kerneos has been awarded this prestigious award from the Japanese refractory community.
